Handcrafted felt vase cover, with a round glass vase. Decorated with a Liberty Lawn appliquéd hare and free-motion embroidered flowers. Ideal gift for a hare or nature lover, or as a treat for yourself.
This handcrafted vase cover is a light mottled beige felt with a multi coloured flowered Liberty Lawn hare, and free-motion machine embroidered flowers, tiny hand embroidered bees finish the cover.
It is a lovely size for a bunch of flowers or as a decorative item. The cover slips off the vase to allow for filling.
I start the process by choosing a liberty fabric to match the felt. The hare is hand drawn and cut out before being free motion appliquéd onto the felt and a tiny black bead is hand sewn for the eye.
The next stage is to add grass and flowers to compliment the colours of the fabrics. This is done by free motion machine embroidery, think using the sewing machine needle as a pencil and you will have an idea of the process. It is all done by eye, no computer programmes involved, so every one produced is unique. Tiny bees are hand embroidered to finish the cover.
Once the exterior is finished it is backed with a matching felt, the edges are machine satin stitched for neatness. The final stage is to hand sew the long exterior seam.
The finished vase is approximately 19.5 cm high and 8 cm round and comes wrapped in tissue.
